Mrs. Dolores C. (nee Johnson) Vitale, 90, died on June 24, 2017 in Belleville. Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona on Thursday, June 29 from 9 to 9:45 a.m. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Born and raised in Hazelton, Pa., Mrs. Vitale lived in Verona for 65 years.
She was a member of Army Cadet Nurses’ Training Class of 1947 at Kings County Hospital and worked as a registered nurse at the Montclair Community Hospital until her retirement in 1970. After retiring Mrs. Vitale volunteered at Montclair Community Hospital, Willing Hearts in Caldwell and remained active in the Republican Party.
She was a dedicated homemaker, taking great pride and joy in raising her loving family.
Mrs. Vitale was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Vitale and the loving mother of Joan Keen, Nanci Smith (and her husband Todd) and cherished grandmother of Julie Pindar, Robert Masino and Amy Minier and great-grandmother of Aidan and Alessia.
