The Verona Lions Club recently installed a new president for 2017. Bill Abele was sworn in during the club’s annual Charter night at the Montclair Country Club. Abele takes over as president from Myron Spektor after a successful year of increased membership and volunteer service.
In addition to the swearing in of new officers the club welcomed in a new member from Verona, Terence Steed. Gordon Wilkins, a previous president of the club, welcomed Steed to the Lions.
The Verona Lions Club is a service organization dedicated to the health and well being of Verona residents. It provides services such as hearing and sight testing, lends home health equipment and raises money for various charities and organizations in Verona. The Verona lions club has also donated a car to Verona that is used to transport the sick and elderly to doctor’s appointments. The club meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Avenue Bistro, 558 Bloomfield Avenue in Verona.
