Verona Bike Racers Earn More Medals

NICA bike raceVerona’s teen bike racers earned another four medals and podium appearances this weekend, racing against the rest of New Jersey in the National Interscholastic Cycling Association spring race series in Lewis Morris Park.

Nina Machnowski and Cole Smith (left) earned green overall points leader jerseys for JV girls and Varsity boys classes, respectively.

Brothers Jack and Frank O’Neill (right) earned fourth and second place finishes in the eighth grade division.

NICA promotes teens on bikes and practices with rides in Cedar Grove every week. The West Essex rail trail has become a popular training spot and supplements the riding that these dedicated cyclists do on their own a few times per week.
