Hundreds of people came out to support the Verona Rescue Squad at the Rock the Block Party for Carrie Ford on Saturday in Verona. The block party, organized by Carrie Ford’s campaign for Town Council, was a community event for all ages. Food and services from several local businesses, including Navarritos Homemade, Pretend Time Parties and The Town Scoop and music by the Penniless Loafers made the afternoon memorable.

Attendees of the event donated over $500 to the Verona Rescue Squad. Volunteer members of the Rescue Squad walked children through their ambulance and demonstrated some of their equipment. Residents were thrilled to learn that three high school age kids from East Reid Place, where the event was hosted, are planning to volunteer for the Verona Rescue Squad.

While children had their faces painted, played carnival games and danced to the band, residents mingled with Carrie and her campaign team to learn more about her platform, and discuss their biggest hopes for Verona.

“The rescue squad is an example of what is best about Verona,” said Carrie Ford. “Our community is incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated and highly trained organization caring for our residents. I am overwhelmed and encouraged by the support received today.”

“With just three days left until the town council election, our focus is on urging residents to get out and vote,” said Monica Cleary, Ford’s campaign manager. “As Carrie has said throughout the campaign, the more people who vote, the more likely the Town Council will be truly representative of the community.“
