A two-car accident early this evening near the corner of Westview Road and Bloomfield Avenue has sent three people to the hospital and demolished a device used to stop traffic so the Verona Fire Department’s station #2 can respond to calls.
According to the Verona Police Department, a vehicle was traveling westbound on Bloomfield Avenue when the driver lost control and entered the eastbound lanes, striking another vehicle.
The impact of the collision pushed that vehicle into the firehouse traffic signal, knocking it over and demolishing it. The westbound vehicle continued and struck a traffic control box and telephone pole. Three people were transported to St. Barnabas Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash is currently under investigation.
