candles2017-1Mrs. Mary C. Miller, 85, died on January 31, 2017 at her home in Verona. Services will be held in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Friday, February 3 at 1 p.m. Visiting on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m.

Born in Mill Creek, West Virginia, Mrs. Miller grew up in Elkins, W.V. and lived in East Orange and Bloomfield prior to moving to Verona in 1967.

She worked for Clothes Galore in Verona and Helen Bick in Montclair as a retail sales clerk before becoming the lunch room chef for the Salvation Army National Headquarters in Verona.

Mrs. Miller was very active in the Verona United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ocean Grove Ushers Association and the Ocean Grove Tent Community for 32 years.

She was the devoted wife of 60 years of Frederick “Fred” Miller, the beloved mother of Peggy Jean Groh (and her husband, Philip), Linda Miller and Patti Miller and the loving grandmother of Jennifer Groh and Sarah Groh.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Verona United Methodist Church, 26 Montrose Ave., Verona, NJ 07044 would be appreciated.
