The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona has extended the deadline for its short story creative writing contest to Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Are you a budding middle-school-aged author or do you know one? The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona is sponsoring a short story creative writing contest. The contest is open to any students in grades 6, 7 and 8 who are enrolled in a Verona school or who live in Verona. Students may enter one short story, of any genre, that is up to 2,000 words in maximum length.
Entries must be postmarked and mailed by that date to Junior Woman’s Club of Verona, PO Box 91, Verona, NJ 07044 or emailed by midnight on December 16 to [email protected]. Entry forms are also available at the Juniors’ website.
Please be sure to complete and staple an entry form to your contest entry. Winners will be notified by January 31, 2017.
The first place winner will receive a $50 Barnes and Noble gift certificate, and second and third place winners will each receive a $25 gift certificate. The first place winner’s entry will be sent for judging in the New Jersey State Woman’s Clubs Youth Short Story contest.
The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona is a versatile organization that has been involved in social and charitable work since its inception in 1926. The Juniors address Verona’s diverse needs by promoting education, preserving natural resources, encouraging healthy lifestyles, working on behalf of the elderly and people with disabilities, supporting participation in the arts and advocating for issues of concern to women children and families.
