Christopher Festa, a Verona resident who has just graduated from Seton Hall Prep, has decided to play college baseball for Johns Hopkins University.
Festa, who was recently honored by Verona UNICO for his scholarship and athletics, chose Hopkins after receiving interest from over 30 schools, including Emory University. A right fielder with a .385 career average, Festa was one of 25 members of Seton Hall Prep’s class of 2016 who have committed to college sports. The Pirates play in the Super Essex Conference and had a 27-3 record this season, including a 14-2 finish in-conference.
Hopkins recently participated in the NCAA D3 playoffs but was ousted before reaching the College World Series. The university is one of the world’s leading higher education institutions, ranked 11 in the Times Higher Education rankings for 2016.
Festa plans on majoring in economics with minors in applied math and Mandarin.
