At the Town Council’s last meeting, Township Manager Matthew Cavallo told the Council that there had been a significant amount of damage done to the new turf fields above the Community Center on Wednesday, March 23. Now, the town is offering a reward to find the vandals.
“Millions of dollar and countless man-hours have been spent to redevelop this complex to meet the ever growing recreational need of this community,” Cavallo said in a statement issued yesterday. “It’s a shame that some people have little respect and would maliciously cause this damage. With the help of the Verona community, I am confident that information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of the people responsible will be forthcoming.”
Town authorities are offering up to $500 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the vandalism at Liberty Field and the Hilltop Recreation Complex.
If you know who damaged the fields–or any other town property–call Det. Sgt. Tim Banta of the Verona Police
Department Detective Bureau at (973) 857-4764.
UPDATE: MyVeronaNJ.com will match the reward set by the town government.
