SacredHeartNewarkParents, friends and music lovers are invited to watch the Verona Concert Band perform at the magnificent Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark on Wednesday, April 13, as part of the Cathedral’s “Wednesdays at Noon” program.

The concert band will debut “Organic Matters” by David Gillingham, a work that was commissioned specifically for the band. The piece will feature Vince Carr on the great Schantz Organ. The commissioned piece was made possible by a generous donation from the Quattrocchi family.

Wednesday’s performance marks the second time the Verona Concert Band has performed at the Cathedral Basilica. In 2012, the Verona Concert Band became the first non-professional band to perform in the Cathedral Basilica music series.

The noon performance is free of charge and is open to the public. The band is directed by Erik Lynch. The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart is located at 89 Ridge Street, just east of Branch Brook Park and about a 20-minute drive from Verona.
