Student bands from Verona High School, surrounding Schools of Rock and other local musicians will be performing in this year’s edition of “Cops & Rockers” event at VHS on Saturday, March 19.
The bands that are registered to perform include Dean’s List (School of Rock, Wayne), Tequila Mockingbirds (Verona students), Lucid Groove (fronted by Verona student Mike Petillo), Xander Marx and Lea B (Verona alumni), Modern Music Academy House Band and School of Rock Montclair’s House Band.
“Cops & Rockers” was created by the Verona Music Parents Association and the Verona PBA Local #72 Civic Association to allow local kids to show off their musical ability on a big stage with lights, fog machines and, as the organizers like to note, a rocking audience. It also bridges the gap between local teens and law enforcement officers as they bond through music and fun. This is the fourth year of the family-friendly event, which begins a 7 p.m. in the VHS auditorium. Tickets are $10 per person.
The money raised from the ticket sales, sponsor donations from local businesses and other fundraising activities on site will go to our two fundraising organizations: The Officer Ron Thorward Fund, in honor of a Verona Police officer who passed away in 2015, and The Verona Music Program, a program rich in history and success that relies on fundraising to maintain its high standard of educating countless numbers of amazingly talented kids.
This year’s sponsors include Decozen, Hot Bagels & More, Cameco, American Cleaners, Hillcrest Farms, PositiviTea, Anthony Robert Salon, Raj’s Krauszers, Verona Diner, Pizza Terminal, Terry’s Family Pharmacy, PJ Rufo’s, Parkview Appliance, Lombardi’s Restaurant, Thai Elephant, C & G Auto, Brookdale Cleaners, Henry’s, Electric Spokes, JT’s Barber Shop, Fresco, Berman Home Systems, Lakeside Deli, Audio Connection, School of Rock Montclair, School of Rock Wayne and Modern Music Academy.
