Verona High School wrestlers Frank Gabriele and Mark Riggio are in Atlantic City this weekend to compete in the NJSIAA state wrestling championships.
Gabriele, a sophomore wrestling at 126, advanced to Atlantic City after taking third place in the Region 4 championship last weekend. Gabriele has had 27 wins this season, 12 of which were by pin. He faces #2 seed Garrett O’Shea of Butler High School in the preliminaries on Friday. You can follow the 126-pound bracket here.
Riggio, a senior wrestling at 195 this year, also took third place in his weight class at Regions. This is a return trip to states for Riggio, who recently scored his 100th win. He starts out against #6 seed Brian Bonino of Paramus High School. You can follow the 195-pound bracket here.
