The December Book Sale was one of several successful fundraisers put on by the Friends of the Verona Public Library.
The Friends of the Verona Public Library are excited to announce that due to a successful fundraising year in 2015 they will be able to fund all of the Verona Public Library’s programming for adults and children in 2016. This achievement helps to ensure that the Verona Public Library will continue in its mission to inspire and educate members of our community through its programs with entertainers, authors, and educators.

The Friends raise their funds through direct donations by their members and through the sale of gently used books that are donated by the Verona community. In 2015, 70 individuals and families directly supported the Friends with donations ranging from $10 to $250, over $1,900 in total. The Friends also raised over $5,600 selling gently used books at their Annual Book Sale in December, the book sale at the Verona Community Pool in July, and throughout the year via the “book cart” at the Verona Public Library. The Friends also had successful fundraisers at Lakeside Deli and California Pizza Kitchen, and received a generous donation from the Verona Mayor’s Charity Fund.

“We are so thankful for the public’s support of our fundraising efforts,” said President Christine McGrath, “and we are excited to be able to fund all of the special programming for adults and children in 2016.” This donation includes the funding of the Library’s movie program and all of the events for the 2016 Summer Reading Program.

Verona Public Library Director Cheryl Ashley added, “The Library is so appreciative of the dedication of the Friends of the Verona Public Library donors and volunteers to help us to continue to offer the public a variety of fun and educational programming throughout the year.”

Donation information on how the public can support the Friends can be found on the Verona Public Library website at www.veronalibrary.org or by emailing [email protected].
