The Verona Public Library is a brick and mortar building that is almost 100 years old, but on Saturday, a group of young Verona residents got to create virtual libraries in the Library’s Minecraft Building Competition II.
Precious Mack, the senior librarian for young adult and technology services, ran the event. Four girls and six boys participated in the competition.
The kids installed their computers in the library’s downstairs meeting room and had one hour to build the Minecraft library of their dreams. The very animated group had a lot of fun sharing ideas and building techniques during the program.
Finally, each participant presented his or her design to the audience. The participants then voted on the designs and selected three finalists: Logan Machnowski, who took first place; Sophia Nunez, second; and Joey Visone, third.
Winners received Minecraft posters, a wall decal and a sword. The next Minecraft Building Competition will take place on March.
