The Verona Recreation Department announces that an AARP Smart Driver class will be held at the Verona Community Center at 880 Bloomfield Avenue. The class will be taught by a trained AARP Driver Safety volunteer, Bill Keenan. The date for the one-day class is Tuesday, September 29. The class begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. There will be a 30-minute break for lunch at noon so attendees should bring lunch and a beverage to the class.
Cars have changed. So have traffic rules, driving conditions, and the roads you travel every day. Even the most experienced drivers can benefit from brushing up on their skills. By taking the AARP Smart Driver course you’ll learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment.
Participants receive a certificate upon completion for a premium reduction for 3 years from their insurance carrier. (Call your insurance carrier to determine your specific discount for completing a ‘Defensive Driving’ class).
The fee for the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-AARP members, payable when registering. Pre-registration is necessary and class size is limited.
To register, call Bill Keenan at 973 226-7046.
