Progeria is an extremely rare genetic condition that causes rapid aging. Team Zoey, the volunteer group that has rallied around Zoey Penny, a Verona child affected by the disease, is once again participating in the Progeria Research Foundation‘s annual campaign.
This year’s overall goal is $200,000, and Team Zoey is looking to raise $50,000 of that, which could open the trial to five more children. “Last year, 53 children participated in the clinical trial,” says Penny’s grandfather, John Marozzi, “and up to 27 more can enroll this year, if PRF can cover their expenses.”
The deadline for the campaign is June 30. You can make a donation and learn more about progeria through Team Zoey’s donation page.
