The Verona Sports Boosters would like to honor Jessica Williams of the Verona High School girls track team as this week’s Senior Athlete of the Week.
Williams is a captain on the VHS girls track team, and she was the highest point getter for Verona at the SEC Conference Championship Meet. She got two first place finishes in 400m hurdles and 100m high hurdle races. Williams finished third in long jump and had the fastest split for Verona in the 4x 400m relay, where the team finished second. She was also a member of the sprint medley relay team that won the Essex County meet with a time that ranked eighth in the nation.
Williams says that Coach Gene Leporati is her favorite coach and is thankful for all of her teachers, though she singled out math teacher Kenneth Treitler as her favorite. She is a fan of pizza and Spanish food, loves the TV show Scandal and lists The Breakfast Club as her favorite movie.
She is a huge fan of Kanye West’s music and when asked who she would have dinner with if she could choose anyone, she again listed Kanye. The best vacation she ever took was to Puerto Rico.
Next year, Williams will be attending St. John’s University. Although she is not one hundred percent sure, she thinks she will most likely be a psychology major.
The Verona Sports Boosters would like to wish Williams the best of luck as she pursues her future dreams.
