On its Facebook page, the Verona Environmental Commission has posted a fascinating story from NJ Spotlight that looks at how widespread solar energy is in New Jersey.
According to the data that the news Web site obtained from the New Jersey Clean Energy Program, Verona has 20 solar energy installations, 15 of which are residential. (MyVeronaNJ.com has written about several of the solar installations in town, including that of the Breitenbach family.) That total helps Verona to compare pretty favorably to Montclair, which has 47 installations despite having a population three times larger than Verona. But over in Livigston, the 86 solar installations include six schools that have solar panels.
NJ Spotlight says that most of New Jersey’s solar energy projects are in the central part of the state. There are nearly 33,000 solar installations statewide, with a capacity of more than 1.4 million kilowatts. To see all of the NJ Spotlight data, click here.
