closed-signThere’s not a lot of snow on the ground in Verona now, but as of 5:07 a.m., Verona’s public schools are closed for the day. All after school activities are cancelled.

That means that the second round of the basketball playoffs will be postponed. The Verona High School boys team was supposed to have hosted fifth-seeded Paterson Charter today at 5 p.m. after beating Saddle Brook on Tuesday. The girls team was traveling to Bergen County to face number 3 seed Cresskill High School after defeating Pompton Lakes on Tuesday. New dates for the playoffs have not been posted. UPDATE: The boys game will be home on Friday at 5 p.m., while the girls game will be in Cresskill on Friday at the same time.

The snow day also means that the opening night performance of the VHS spring musical Legally Blonde, is being postponed. There was a contingency plan for a matinee on Saturday if we had snow, but that has not yet been confirmed. The show will be performed as scheduled on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. Tickets at the door are $8 for students and senior citizens, and $10 adults.
