Verona Cub Scout Pack 32 recently returned from their two-night, three-day stay at Camp Lewis in Rockaway, N.J. Scouts and parents slept in canvas, Boy Scouts of America-issued tents suspended over wooden platforms.
Scouts adhered to a busy schedule which included sessions like archery, BB guns, Cub skills, nature and swimming. Some elected to build rockets, blasting them off the next day, or chose to learn the safety skills required to handle pocket knives.
Boys were also introduced to outdoor skills including orienteering, fire building and knot tying as well as fishing, frog catching and boating. Overall the scouts shared valuable outdoor lessons with fellow campers and their parents. Those scouts who are eligible are looking forward to a return trip next year. Looks like they had a great time! A group of Verona Troop 2 Boy Scouts work at Camp Lewis as Counselors (and attended as Cub Scouts); including Seamus Elliott, Ethan Posner, Eric Stoloff and Jeff Szybist.
