Verona Police Run For Special Olympics

2014TorchRun2Members of the Verona Police Department PBA Local 72 participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics earlier this month.

The Torch Run is the largest grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics, which provides sports training and Olympic-style competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The Torch Run has raised more than $461 million for Special Olympics since it was created in 1981.

In our area, the begins in West Orange and comes through Verona into Montclair, Glen Ridge, and then finally ends in Bloomfield. Police forces from many towns participate in it. This year’s Verona Police runners were Captain Mitchell Stern, Det. Sgt. Tim Banta, Police Officer TJ Conroy, Police Officer Ed Ruff, Police Officer John Lecreux, and Police Dispatcher Justin Nielsen.2014TorchRun1
