Verona High School’s Spotlight Players, in conjunction with the Spotlight Players Parents Association, will present an evening of student directed one-act plays on Friday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school’s auditorium.
This year, five one-act plays will be presented: “The Great Gatsby,” written and directed by Chloe Christen, will star Gabe Riccitelli, Paul Salierno, Mia Corbett, Alana Murphy and Corey Horowitz. “We’re Not Making This Up-Honest,” directed by Maddie Boyle will feature actors Anthony Giuliano, Nick Kast, Anna Shea, Miranda Williams, Rayna Newkirk, Katie Fernandez, Maddie Meyer, and Maura Cuddihy. The offbeat comedy “Serial Killer Barbie,” directed by Gabe Riccitelli will highlight the talents of Kelsey Mitchell, Chloe Christen, Noelle Park, Sam Daggett, Carla Bello and Carina Mitchell.
Colin Pope is directing a few hilarious selections from Monty Python staring Andrew Capuano, Liam Lawless, Joe Anello, Nick Kast, Carina Mitchell, Carla Bello and Kayla Drozdowski. The evening will conclude with the comedy “The Least Offensive Play in the Whole Darn World” directed by Frances Metzger and Ella Yarmo-Gray. This cast includes Katie Kast, Ryan Lavoie, Corey Horowitz, Eric Foy, Paul Salierno, Patrick Citrano, Kelsey Dougherty, Jill Lanese and Seamus Elliott.
The plays will be judged by theater professionals serving as guest judges. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. Tickets are $5 and the proceeds of the evening will benefit the Spotlight Players Parents Association’s scholarship fund.
