Mr. Henry Rentschler, 72, died on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his home in Verona. Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona on Saturday, January 11 from 1 to 3 p.m., with a service to be held at 3 p.m.
Born in Newark, Mr. Rentschler moved to Verona in 1982. He worked in Ad Services for State Farm Insurance in Parsippany and previously served as a printer for Mutual Benefit Life in Newark.
Mr. Rentschler served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force in Spain and 4 years in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam era.
He was a member of James Caldwell Post 185, American Legion, the Old Guard of Caldwell and the Essex County Bowling Association.
Mr. Rentschler’s interests included cowboy action shooting, trap shooting and Civil War history. He also achieved a perfect 300 score in bowling.
He is the husband of Francine (nee O’Donnell) Rentschler, the stepfather of Sheree Lynn Kelly, Michael Robert Haskins (and his wife, Kendra) and Pamela Elaine Ochab (and her husband, Paul). He is also survived by his sisters, Rose Robinson, Lee Chalkley, Shirley Pilot, many nieces and nephews and his grandchildren, Caroline, Dalton, Addison and Colin.
He was predeceased by his sister, Josephine Fasano.
