Yes, you read that right. There’s going to be a football game at Yankee Stadium next weekend and Verona’s Carlo Calabrese Jr. is going to be playing in it.
The New Era Pinstrip Bowl, which pits teams from the American against the Big 12 conference, this year will feature Rutgers and Calabrese’s alma mater, Notre Dame. And with the game being so close to Verona, a South Bend, Ind. newspaper says Calabrese’s phone has been ringing non-stop since the match-up was announced:
“I had a bunch of texts come my way,” said Calabrese, a linebacker from Verona, N.J. “Can I get a ticket? Can I get a ticket? I said, ‘yes, let me work on it.’
“There’s going to be a lot of people there. A lot of friends. A lot of family. It’s going to be great.”
The game will be held Saturday, December 28, with a 12:15 p.m. kickoff. If you don’t have Calabrese’s phone number or can’t get to Yankee Stadium, the game will be televised on ESPN.
