• Tuesdays & Saturdays throughout the month: The Thrift Shop in Fellowship Hall of the church will be open from 10 – 1. Gently used items (including holiday decorations) are available at reasonable prices.
• Sunday, December 8th: The second Sunday in Advent features the Rev. Bob Pryor and special guest pianist, Dr. Bill Workinger. The Alternative Christmas Mall returns (for those who missed it on November 24th) immediately following the service. This is a chance to purchase “gifts” in the form of donations to several charities such as the Verona Children’s Fund, Heifer International, Integrity House and Camp Johnsonberg.
• Friday, December 13th: Hanging of the Greens – an evening of food, singing and decorating the church for the holiday season. Reservations are required; please call the church office.
• Saturday, December 14th: Children’s Workshop from 10- 2. A time for children from age 3 through grade 6 to come together to play games, make crafts, learn songs and have lunch. Cost is $10 a person and space is limited. Please call the church office to make a reservation.
• Sunday, December 15th: The third Sunday in Advent is well known for the Candlelight Service. The 10:15 service features music from the church’s choirs. Instead of a traditional sermon, the story of Christmas is presented through music and scripture readings.
• Sunday, December 22nd: Beth Shorten will be the guest speaker on the fourth Sunday in Advent. There will be a harp prelude and additional music with renowned harpist Robbin Gordon- Cartier. The prelude will begin at 10:05.
• Tuesday, December 24th: There will be a special family service at 4 PM. This early service is especially geared for families with young children who will have the chance to participate in the Christmas Story. This is a rousing and joyous service in which all children in attendance are encouraged to take part. The Cherub and Praise choirs will also be singing. A more traditional and reflective service will take place at 9 PM. This service of Lessons and Carols features the vocal talents of Peggy Whiting and Eric Burgos.
• Sunday, December 29th: The service will led by Christian Education Facilitator, Christina Turkington. Her post-Christmas topic will be “The Christmas Carol”.
For additional information on any of the above, please call the church office at 973-239-3561. The church is located at 10 Fairview Ave (on the corner of Bloomfield Ave). Parking is available behind the church.
