The Verona Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, October 15 at 7 p.m. to interview the seven people who have filed to fill the unexpired term of Dawn DuBois. The meeting will be held in the library/media center at Verona High School and is open to the public.

The seven candidates are Ellen Conover, Dominic Ferry, Donald Flood, Anthony Gaeta, Anthony Gardner, George Sidrak and Steve Spardel. At tomorrow night’s meeting, the candidates will present their qualifications and ideas for Verona’s public schools. Each candidate will be given about 15 minutes to speak and take questions from the Board.

DuBois resigned from the BOE in September, citing a demanding work schedule. Under state law, the BOE can choose the person to fill the remainder of her term, which expires in November 2014. There is also an election on November 5 for two seats on the Board. The four candidates in that election include incumbents Glenn Elliott and Michael Unis, and challengers Jim Day and Judy DiNapoli.
