Verona High School’s Spotlight Players will be presenting their One Acts Festival on Friday May 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
The One Acts Festival is a student-directed production. This year’s festival will include selections from Shakespeare’s The Tempest , directed by Austin Williams, and Welcome to the 60s, a musical tribute to Hairspray and Hair directed by Gabi Latimer.
The festival will also include two one-act comedies: Take Five, directed by Alex Jo and and Ella Yarmo-Gray, and Happily Never After, directed by Gabe Riccitelli, Noelle Park and Kelsey Dougherty.
The plays will be judged by a panel of teachers and theatrical professionals. There will be prizes for the winning play and the top two one acts will perform at the VHS Arts Festival on May 22.
Students performing in the one acts include Isaac Jo, Danielle Silvia, Isabelle Schechter, Frances Metzger, Alex Karpinski, Maddie Boyle, Jill Lanese, Carina Mitchell, Chloe Christen, Katie Kast, Kayla Drozdowski, Josh Watabe, Maddie Meyer, Gabe Riccitellii, Ryan Lavoie and Emma Mauser.
Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door.
