On October 12, five Verona special education teachers attended a workshop on dyslexia sponsored by the New Jersey Chapter of the International Dyslexia Association (NJIDA).
Barbara Wilson, who with her husband developed the Wilson Reading Method taught to many Verona students, was the keynote speaker and she examined how the Common Core Standards–the uniform curriculum that has been adopted by New Jersey schools–affect students with dyslexia.
NJIDA has a resource section for parents of dyslexic children here.
