Mrs. Catherine G. (nee Clune) King died on September 13, 2012 in Livingston.

A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Monday, September 17 at 10 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Born in Pleasant Mount, Pa., Mrs. King lived in Orange prior to moving to Verona in 1950.

She has a BS in Education from East Stroudsburg University and has done graduate work at Temple University and New York University. Mrs. King was a teacher for the Verona Board of Education at the Laning Avenue School, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of the NEA, the NJEA, the Verona Retired Teachers Association, the Essex County Retired Teachers Association, the Montclair Teachers Club and the Rosary Society of Our Lady of the Lake Church.

Mrs. King was a volunteer at St. Barnabas Medical Center and for the Literacy Volunteers of America in Newark.

She is the wife of the late Thomas F. King, the mother of the late Deborah King Frey and the grandmother of Thomas King Frey and Michael King Frey.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Verona Rescue Squad would be appreciated.

  1. what a wonderful teacher she was – I had her in 4th grade at Laning Ave. School – so sad to hear of her passing RIP Mrs. King.
