Most of us stay out of the Jersey shore waves in winter, but not Mike Schumell. For the fourth year, the Verona Rescue Squad volunteer is taking part in the Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics New Jersey. This year’s plunge will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2012.

Schumell has set a fundraising goal of $2,000, and if you want to help him reach it, you can visit his donation page. Special Olympics New Jersey provides free year-round training and competition in 24 Olympic-type sports to more than 22,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
