We kid you not. A 5.8 magnitude quake hit northern Virginia at 1:51 p.m. and was felt all the way up to our area. Jessica Kirby of Verona works in Rockaway, N.J. and messaged us to say, “it felt like someone was shaking my chair.” Patti Walsh, who works in lower Manhattan, e-mailed “not a good feeling on the 45th floor”.
The Verona Recreation Department has denied a report that the Verona Pool was evacuated.
Definitely felt it here in Carlstadt, NJ (where I work). I thought it was just me until the boss said to stand in the doorways. And then we evacuated.
Definitely felt it, and watched it rattle things, right here in Verona.
I work in New Brunswick and all of a sudden the whole building was shaking. I live below Trenton and when I called home my son said the whole house was rocking for a few minutes. Friends all up and down the east coast felt it and fortunately family in Virginia are all ok. What a way to spend a lunch hour!
