Paper Mill Playhouse Starts Adult Chorale

By on August 12, 2011

The Paper Mill Playhouse is adding another piece of entertainment to its marquee: an adult chorale.

Members of this company will participate in ensemble singing as they explore the world of American popular music. The Adult Chorale will meet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Monday evenings, for 10 weeks, beginning September 12. The cost to participate in this program is only $99. No audition is required, but participants must be at least 16 years of age. The semester will end with a showcase and other performance opportunities will be available to participants. Holiday songs, contemporary music, standards and Broadway tunes will be part of the repertoire.

“For those with a love of choral singing, The Paper Mill Playhouse Adult Chorale is a wonderful opportunity,” says Mickey McNany, Paper Mill Playhouse Theatre School Director. “This latest addition to our Theatre School schedule provides a chance for people of all ages to celebrate the beauty of choral performance.”

The chorale will be directed by Meg Zervoulis, an arranger, pianist and music director. She has worked off-Broadway on “Chuckleball” at the Snapple Theatre and served on the music team for “Rated P…for Parenthood” at SOPAC (Midtown Direct Rep). Workshops and concerts include: Kooman and Dimond’s Dani Girl in the ASCAP/Disney Workshop with Stephen Schwartz. Zervoulis provided musical direction for many special events including collaborations with Lauryn Hill, Max Weinberg and Christine Noll among others. Zervoulis also arranges and accompanies many Paper Mill Playhouse special events including master classes, New Voices concerts and benefit galas. Zervoulis is also a musical director and adjunct keyboard professor at Montclair State University.
