The Verona Health Department has gotten vouchers that can cut the cost of fresh produce at area farmers’ markets for senior citizens. Qualified applicants can get four $5 vouchers, which can be used at Matarazzo’s as well as at the farmers’ markets in Bloomfield, Caldwell, Montclair, West Orange and Livingston, among other locations.

To be eligible, a single applicant’s income must not exceed $20,147; for married couples, the threshold is $27,214. Proof of residence and income must accompany application, which must be made by August 26. The vouchers themselves are good through November 30.

To apply, seniors must go to the Verona Health Department, which is located in the Verona Community Center at 880 Bloomfield Avenue.
