Where In Verona Is It? Verona Sports!

Andrew Lange has spent much of his life in close proximity to the corner of Bloomfield and Lakeside Avenues. He loves going to Verona Park and The Towne Scoop nearby. He’s even bought Christmas gifts at that corner.

So when we posted this week’s photos, Lange, who grew up in West Orange before moving to Verona 11 years ago, knew that the location was Ben’s Verona Sports Center. “It’s a great hockey store,” says Lange, who is a firefighter in Cedar Grove.

As you can see in the rest of Fred Goode’s slideshow, there is a lot of hockey gear in the store, which Ben Leuzzi founded in 1972 after deciding that a career in financial services was not for him. But I got my figure skates there last winter, and there are plenty of other sports represented there too.

We’ll hope to see Lange on the ice in Verona Park with his MyVeronaNJ baseball cap on this winter.
