Your cell phone is a powerful tool: It can round up children, take vacation pictures and order dinner. It can also win $50,000 for MyVeronaNJ.com.

All you need to do text “myveronanj” to 244326. That’s it. Easy, right?

Intuit, the company behind the Quickbooks accounting software, has invited us to compete for a grant that could earn us up to $50,000. The grants are being given out to help local businesses hire the help they need to grow. And as we’ve said so many times before, we are a business that is very much local to Verona : We work here, we live here and we’re not owned by a media company located elsewhere in the state or across the country.

To win Intuit’s “Love A Local Business” contest, MyVeronaNJ.com must get your vote of support, which you can do through the Intuit Web site, Facebook, Twitter or by cell phone. Every time you enter (and you can enter as many times as you like), you can give Intuit a reason why you love MyVeronaNJ.com: Winners are chosen on the basis of total votes and the strength of their community support.

The contest has two prizes, $25,000 and a $50,000 grand prize. Every month from now through the end of September, we have a chance to win a $25,000 prize. If we win that level, we are automatically entered into the grand prize drawing. Thank you in advance for helping us to win it.
