Justice delayed again: David Fate was to have been sentenced in Newark today for his role in the armed robberies that preceded the February 2009 murder of Verona gas station attendant Daniel Pritchard. But the Essex County prosecutor’s office decided instead to push back the sentencing until after the trial of Fate’s cousin, Raymond Perry. This past February, Fate pleaded guilty to the robberies, but said it was Perry who fatally shot Pritchard at the Sunoco gas station on Pompton Avenue. There were no other eyewitnesses to the murder. Perry was to have been put on trial in April.
