23 Otsego Road, Verona

It’s spring, and, in the traditional real estate market, this was the time when everybody shopped madly for houses so that they could be out of their old houses after one school year ended and in their new one before school returned in September.

The real estate market in Verona (and everywhere else) has been anything but traditional lately, so consider this story–and the three to follow– an incantation to get it back to the good old days. Since we have neighborhood elementary schools in Verona, we’re going to present the current real estate listings in Verona by school.

First up, Laning Avenue School, and we’ll begin with a reminder that, if anyone in your family has photos of Laning in its early decades, think about contributing them to the fourth grade’s legacy project, a photo history. Laning was built in the 1930s, but it has been modernized every few years so that it now sports a large gym, large library and computer lab.

Here’s what’s for sale in the district, from lowest to highest. These listings do not include any of the condos for sale at the Claridge House complex. While both Claridge buildings are technically in the Laning district, and a few families do live in them from time to time, they are not, primarily a family destination. You should also be aware that there are, in Laning and elsewhere around Verona, several houses listed for sale by their owners that have not been listed on sites like Zillow or For Sale By Owner. Keep your eyes open as you drive.

27 Martin Road: 4 beds, 1 bath, being sold in “as is” condition for $309,900.

200 Bloomfield Avenue: 4 beds, 2 baths in one of the oldest homes in Verona for $315,000.

23 Otsego Road: 3 beds, 2 baths, new to the market for $389,000.

15 Franklin Street: 3 beds, 2 baths, recent renovation for $399,000.

41 Floyd Road: 3 beds, 2 baths, finished basement for $418,000.

36 Westview Road: 3 beds, 2 and a half baths, steps to Everett Field for $424,900.
