Where In Verona Is It? Week 35

Share post:

OK, we were guilty of a bit of trickery last week. We picked a business that isn’t in business any more, the Brunner auto dealership, and might only have been identifiable to those of you who have lived in Verona for a while, like winner Mike Schumell. Our reasons for doing so will become more apparent when we unveil our plans for a new story series soon. (Can you stand the suspense?)

In the meantime, Fred Goode has a new round of photos for week 35 of the Where In Verona contest. Put your best guess in the Comments field below, with your real name and real e-mail address. As the sun grows stronger, you’ll need one of our highly fashionable MyVeronaNJ baseball caps to shield your eyes.

UPDATE: We’ve added a second third fourth photo.

  1. I’ll go with last week’s wrong answer and see if it’s right this week…Essex Public Works (I believe you told me it is in NJ at 900 Bloomfield)

  2. A couple of my son’s friends found the boat floating in the brook behind FN Brown and carried it to the police station. It was a few days after the heavy rain we got.

  3. Specific? Ok…I’ll guess Fairview Ave, left hand side (as you’re heading towards Cedar Grove) just past the Verona Pool, but before you get into Cedar Grove. If Google would provide an address # I’d give it to you…

Of course I’m probably completely wrong…

  4. Overbrook hasn’t existed since we were kids, my dear. And most of the buildings have been torn down. And the path is called the West Essex Trail. All of which is moot because that’s not where the photo is. Take a good look at all the photos again people, or Fred will win…

  5. This is real “March Madness”! OK Fred, you win. I am done, fried, finished. Have a great weekend all.

  6. Wow,it makes it a lot less interesting when people give up. All I can say is you’re close. You had the right subject in a guess you took. Expand your thinking to both sides of town.

  7. I thought the hilltop water tower was removed years ago. Don’t tell me there is a new one up there? No, this is not a guess because I said I quit and I meant it!

  8. We’ll interrupt Fred’s cheering long enough to tell you that there is a third water tower in Verona, located on the Hilltop, and that is where the photo was taken. (We’ll have details on why that is important tomorrow.) But since your dad had said earlier in the day that he was giving up, I was ribbing him a little.
