Verona usually has a rabies clinic in February at the Public Works garage. But as part of a shared services drive this year, Verona residents can get their pets their shots on Tuesday, February 15 in Montclair. The clinic will be held in the Edgemont Park Shelter on Valley Road, from 6 to 6:45 p.m. for dogs and 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. for cats. In case of snow (relax, there’s none in the forecast) the Montclair Health Department says the clinic will be the same times on Tuesday, February 22 at Edgemont. If you have questions, you can call the Montclair Health Department at 973-509-4970.
Remember, if you have a dog or cat in Verona, you should have a license for your pet, and you need proof that your pet’s rabies shot is current to get one. Dog licenses are due now and the cost is $8.20 for neutered dogs and $11.20 for dogs that have not been neutered. There is no charge for seeing eye and service dogs, but they are required to be licensed. Cat licenses are due in September. The cost is $6 for neutered cats and $8 for for cats that have not been neutered.
