Mrs. Claus For A Cause

Santa spread holiday cheer in Verona this past weekend. Now it’s his wife’s turn.

Mrs. Claus will be at Main Street Cottage on Saturday, December 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again on Thursday, December 16 from 3 to 7 p.m. From her perch in an 1800 sled, she’ll be reading “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and posing for pictures to aid the Progeria Research Foundation. This is the non-profit that has been set up to fund research into a disease that has affected a Verona toddler, Zoey Penny.

Here’s how it will work: Heidi Campbell Huze, a Verona-based children’s photographer, will charge $10 for photos with Mrs. Claus, $5 of which will go to the Progeria Research Foundation. In addition, Debbie Curran Galife, the owner of Main Street Cottage, will donate 25% of her proceeds from shopping done during the event to the Foundation.

Main Street Cottage is located at 678 Bloomfield Avenue, between the Verona Diner and the Post Office. Wine, cheese and snacks will be served Thursday evening
