This Saturday is the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of Verona residents William J. Erwin and Stephen L. Roach, Congregation Beth Ahm member Howard Kestenbaum and nearly 3,000 other people. Verona will mark the occasion with a service at the monument at the civic center, beginning at 8:45 a.m.

Essex County will hold a separate memorial at its monument, located at the southern end of Eagle Rock Reservation near the Highlawn Pavilion. The county remembrance begins at 8 a.m. and a string quartet will play at the site from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
