Three Verona residents were among the 30 Essex County artists who received awards this week in the annual Essex County Senior Citizens Juried Art Show.

Kay Luzzi won first place in the professional acrylic painting category for “1787 Chateau Lafite”, Bill Wood won first place in the professional print category for “Egret”, and Ronnie Horn won first place in the non-professional category for “Breakfast with Pop.” There were 94 pieces of artwork entered in this year’s county contest, which was open to all professional and non-professional artists ages 60 and older. Art work was judged on originality, composition, style, and quality and creativity.

The Verona works, and those of the other winners, will be on display in the lobby of the Essex County Hospital Center at 204 Grove Avenue (between Bradford and Pompton) through Thursday, September 16. They are also eligible to have their artwork entered into the New Jersey State Senior Citizens Art Show, which will be from September 27 to October 28 in East Windsor.
