Punxsutawney Phil, Make Room For Essex Ed

MyVeronaNJ-Essex-Ed-Groundhog-DayPennsylvania is our neighboring state, and it’s important to have good neighborly relations. But it never felt right that we had to get our predictions of winter from a rodent who has probably never been to New Jersey.

Some folks want Punxsutawney Phil to be replaced with a robot. Others decry his rivals as impostors. But here at MyVeronaNJ, we’re a fan of all things local, so today’s winter weather outlook comes from Essex Ed at Turtle Back Zoo. And although Essex Ed did convey his thoughts, there was no prediction from Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. about when skating might resume at Verona Park Lake.
