Downed Wires Close Pompton

A tree on the west side of Pompton Avenue fell into the roadway during this afternoon’s storm, taking utility wires down with it. The Verona Fire Department, Rescue Squad and Public Works department responded, as did police from Verona and Cedar Grove. Pompton was closed and traffic diverted until the mess was cleared.

The Verona Police Department has issued a traffic advisory for tonight, Thursday, August 4. Mt. Prospect Avenue from Bloomfield Avenue in Verona to Eagle Rock Avenue in West Orange will be closed to traffic until 6 a.m. Friday for road construction.
