Mr. Michael William Quigley, a lifelong resident of Verona, died suddenly but peacefully on November 5, 2018. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Friday, November 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Born on October 27, 1954 in Montclair, Mike was employed for many years by Friel Bros. Paving as a heavy equipment operator and was previously employed by Verona Aluminum.

Mike, fondly known as “Doc” or “Quigs” by many, was an avid Giants and Yankees fan. He enjoyed working on cars and travelling to NHRA races with his friends and crew. He frequently went to air shows where he cherished the time spent with his family. He was creative and this could be seen in his repurposing of old windows and sign making with his late friend Matt.

Mike went all out for the holidays brightening up the neighborhood with his ever-expanding decorations. He especially loved Christmas when he could spoil his nieces and nephews and make them laugh with his newest holiday novelties, especially when they were younger.

Mike had a kind and generous heart. He could be counted on to help whenever asked, and even when not asked, from shoveling sidewalks to installing windows and doors. He never asked for anything in return – he just did it because it made him feel good.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Leona, his fraternal twin, Marty, and his brothers-in-laws Frank and Mark.

He is survived by his brothers John Bruce (Christine) and Chris and his sisters Mary Pacifico, Jill Anderson, Jackie Allen (Tim) and Patti Fitzpatrick (Tom), and sister-in-law, Diane Quigley. He also leaves behind eight nephews and seven nieces.

Mike was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Verona PBA Local 72, PO BOX 72, Verona NJ 07044 would be appreciated.
