Verona’s 10th annual Walk and Bike to School Day will be held on Wednesday, October 10.
On that day, which is sponsored by the Verona Environmental Commission (VEC), Verona public school students in grades K through 12 are encourage to walk or bike to school and to submit a poster about the importance of the environment in Verona. The poster contest is a way to get students thinking about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and making changes that benefit the environment. Traveling by car is the largest single source of greenhouse gas emissions in Verona, and these emissions lead to climate change and affect our air quality.
All of the artwork submitted will be displayed at school. The VEC will pick one poster from each school and award its creator $50.
You can learn more about how to keep Verona’s environment healthy on the VEC’s website.
