It was Knights over Hillbillies in Verona High School sports on Wednesday afternoon. The VHS girls soccer team could not get anything going against West Essex, falling 4-0 in a game played on the lower field at VHS. Abby Azzinnari, Lauren Geiger, Emma Riberio and Mia Saccone each scored for West Essex.
The news wasn’t any better on the tennis courts. Playing at West Essex, Verona fell 5-0. VHS’s Megan Forest put up a fight against Sadye Boshak, but ultimately lost 7-5, 6-3. Verona’s second doubles team of Kylee Gallagher and Brooke Anquillare went 7-6 (7-5) , 6-1 against West Essex.
Tennis travels to Glen Rock on Thursday for a 4 p.m. match. Girls soccer will be in Caldwell on Friday afternoon.
