Bob Thomas, a Verona photographer, has won the “Image of the Year Award” from the Essex Photo Club. The image, titled “Pulled Teeth or a Shave?”, was taken at Eastern State Penitentiary. He also received an honorable mention in the nature category for an image he took of a weeping willow in Verona Park titled “Out of the Fog”. Thomas attributes his success as photographer to all that he has learned from other photographers of the Essex Photo Club.
The club has just released its calendar of events for the coming year. It includes a monthly speaker series, monthly competitions grouped by ability, and hands-on activity nights. “There is literally something for everybody interested in photography at the club,” Thomas says, adding that, “For the first time there will also be two hands-on activity nights scheduled during the club year”. The club meetings are in Caldwell and is open to everybody. For more information on events go to www.essexphotoclub.org.
