Juniors Collect Backpack Supplies

Did you know that many Verona families will struggle to provide school supplies for their children this fall? The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona is determined to ease this burden through its “Packs with Purpose” fundraiser and school supply collection.

Last fall, due to the overwhelming generosity of the community and their partnership with Walgreens-Verona, the Verona Juniors were able to fill over 40 backpacks. The Juniors worked with Verona’s Health & Social Services Program Coordinator, Mary Farrell, to ensure that the backpacks were distributed to those who need them the most.

The Juniors and Walgreens-Verona hope to match last year’s success and look to the community for support. To help, residents can donate an item or two from the “Wish List“,  or by making a donation online.

Collection boxes are located at the Verona Community Center, HardBodyz Fitness and Platinum Fitness through August 7. The Juniors are also willing to pick up supplies from your house. Please email [email protected] pick-up instructions or if you have any questions.

The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona is a versatile organization that has been involved in social and charitable work since its inception in 1926. The Juniors address Verona’s diverse needs by promoting education, preserving natural resources, encouraging healthy lifestyles, working on behalf of the elderly and people with disabilities, supporting participation in the arts and advocating for issues of concern to women, children and families.
