Millions of people care for parents, spouses, children, siblings, or friends with illnesses, disabilities, and the needs that come with aging. But unpaid caregivers often take on their role without training or preparation, and caregiving can raise challenges to the caregiver’s physical, emotional, and financial health.
To help caregivers meet those challenges, the United Way of Northern New Jersey has created a Caregivers Coalition that puts on free programs programs on critical issues, and on the second Tuesday of the month with the exception of November at the Verona Community Center.
The next Caregivers Coalition meeting will be on Tuesday, July 10 at 9:30 a.m. at the VCC, which islocated at 880 Bloomfield Avenue. There will be a presentation on “Home Financing Options for Paying for Home and Long-Term Care”, and time for general questions and answers. There is no charge to attend.
The following meeting will be on August 14.
For more information on meetings and respite events, as well as resources for caregivers, see the Caregivers Coalition website. If you can’t make it to the VCC, there are meetings in several other northern New Jersey counties.
